When Jay and I started dating, his brother, Daniel started dating Desiree around the same time. Even though Daniel doesn’t remember the first time they met, it was in the University of New Mexico dinning hall and they met though mutual friends (and food). I loved how Desiree + Daniel fit together, and just knew it was a matter of time. Daniel contacted me last year about wanted to find a cool and unique way to propose to his girlfriend with me there to take photos, so we set up this elaborate idea that I needed a couple to model for me in New Mexico. So I slowly chatted about it on during Thanksgiving vacation when they were visiting us…and then a few weeks ago Jay and I flew down to New Mexico to make it a reality. We started the day roaming around Santa Fe, and then drove up to Ghost Ranch to explore the grounds and “get photos for my website”. Dez had no idea she would be proposed to in just a few hours…
I’ve been meaning to share this fun engagement session for some time! Taylor + Jon visited Colorado last month for the National Western Stock Show and we knew we needed to meet in person and have a fun little session before the wedding day! I learned a little about cattle, and loved photographing in Vickland Show Cattle in Longmont!
Jon + Taylor are getting married in Texas this May and I consider myself lucky to be the one to photograph it! Taylor is a fabulous photographer herself and her smiley personally totally shows up in her photography!
During a week long trip to Joshua Tree, I had the pleasure of photographing a few sweet couples at Heck Yeah Photo Camp. One afternoon they put together styled couples for us to photograph and try out the tips we have learned. With only 3 couples and over 100 photographers it was a challenge to say the least. (They had 4 fashion models as well – but lets be real, I love photographing love)
For me, I just wanted the couples to feel comfortable and loved. It’s scary to get your photo taken, let alone have 20+ photographers surrounding you and most of them only able to take the lead for 1 minutes at a time. For the few minutes I had with each couple, they made magic happen. Thank you Kyle + Kirsten for opening up, not being afraid to show a little love to your other half, and Kirsten…I want that coat. 🙂
As soon as snow hits the ground up here in Fort Collins, Colorado, my mind goes wild. Couples hiking the covered snow tops, warm mugs of coffee, blankets to keep warm, and brisk walks with the twinkling lights that always grace the trees. So I was really excited for the lovely couple session that was in the works. Dylan and Marc drove down from Boulder and we explored just a small part of Fort Collins. We started in Old Town Fort Collins, and spent the last few minutes of sunset on Coyote Ridge.
This past September I joined Austyn at Wiens Ranch for the beautiful wedding of Meg and Bryan. Not only did they get married outside in a field (swoon), but they danced the night away in a 135 year old barn surrounded by twinkly lights and laughter.
