Requirements to be a part of the C-Team

Lately, I’ve been referring to the people I bring with me on a wedding day as “my team”. With our forces combined, we are a power to be reckoned with. Kinda like Captain Planet, but less `90s.  We have eaten Del Taco in suits, been called “Hipster Photographers”, scared people with our epic car dance...

Happy St. Patrick’s Day and Out of the Office { San Fransisco, CA }

Wanna know my almost-favorite-holiday? St. Patrick’s Day. But it might just be because I think every party is to kick off my birthday celebration. For reals. I haven’t had to plan a party for years, all I do is show up at a friends party and when the clock strikes 12 it becomes a birthday...

Thankful

I always want to remember this point in my life and career. I’m usually a very happy person while I’m working, but lately I’ve realized that the people I’ve been working with fill my heart with so much love and creativity. Thank you for choosing awesome engagement session locations, thank you for caring about my...

Out of the Office { Las Vegas, Nevada }

Today I’m heading out to Nevada with about 1 million other wedding photographers  {it’s a rough estimate based on hours of math equations} for a conference called WPPI. Last year I managed to see snow for the first time, go 2 nights without sleep, dance for 5 hours straight,  and learn from some of the...

A Postcard from January 2011

Today will be a casual Friday if you will. Kinda like when you’re allowed to wear jeans to the office…and your boss shows up in something from the 90’s. It might be awkward, but just let it happen. Last month I received a postcard that I postmarked for January of last year. On that card, I...

My first true off-season

For photographers, wedding photographers especially…December and January is lovingly known as our off-season. I consider myself lucky that I did have some amazing weddings in the last few months, but also feel lucky that I was given some time to rest and recharge. I think of a creative brain like a cup of coffee: it...

A look back { 2011 Weddings }

2011 was the year that my life changed for the better. I managed to work in 7 states, be on creative live, meet the 8 people that will forever be in my photo family (JD + Jasmine  – Friendship bracelet is in the mail), move to a new house, quit my full time job,  and...

New look and 2 year anniversary

Things are changing up-in-here. In the last few months, something was missing. Not so much in my photography, but what I wanted to say and show to the world. And by the world I mean the 3 people that read my blog. I felt like I just had too much stuff. I needed to do...

Out of the Office { New Hampshire Wedding }

Hey guys! I just wanted to let everybody know that I’m going to be out of the office today thru Friday! I’m helping shoot a wedding in New Hampshire with Callaway Gable. And I’m so excited for my first trip to the East Coast that I can almost forget that I’m going to freeze to death. If you...

An Exercise in crazy { Nick + CJ film anytime session }

I did it. I shot an entire session on film…and with a camera that didn’t have a built in light meter (thats how photographers get their general settings) or auto focus. And I couldn’t of asked for a more awesome couple. About 5 minutes after I started shooting I noticed something was wrong with my...

An exercise in crazy { my first roll of film}

So I got my first roll of test film back from Richards Photo Lab, and to tell you the truth I’m surprised anything turned out. I was using a Kodak 400TX, 50 1.8 lens, 1982 Nikon FG 35mm and my not-so-hot-skills at manually focusing. Since I’m keeping this learning experience real and telling you guys everything it’s kinda refreshing....

An exercise in crazy

So to lay it all down…I’m crazy obsessed with the look of film. In college I took one black and white photography class…learned how to load the film, shoot (badly) and develop the film myself. I dont know how I passed the class…oh thats right…I didnt. How ironic. A photographer that failed the only photography...
