Two days ago I photographed my last wedding of 2012. I can’t believe I actually made it. 29 weddings total and countless second shooting weddings to make that number jump to well over 50. I’ve poured my heart and soul into working this year, and every year I find out I have more I can give. Each couple that I meet that has that extra special spark warms my heart, and pushes me to become a better photographer for them.
Each shoot has taught me something – whether it’s to learn to just relax, chat with a stranger, pay attention to the red flags, or how to calm nerves.
I have moments of doubt, every photographer has them (I hope?)…but at the end of every meeting, shoot or wedding I feel blessed to do what I do. Three years ago I picked up a camera and photographed a wedding for the first time, and now I’m supporting myself with it. It blows my mind.
In my personal life…most of all this year I learned what it’s like on the other side. To be a couple. To be with someone you love completely. I now know what it’s like to have a guy by your side that makes you a stronger, better person. Someone that will always be there even if I always talk about work, and understands if I have to work 25 days in a row. Someone that gets me coffee with a smile even though he hates the smell, and loves when we can just watch a movie instead of going out at night. He is also someone that isn’t scarred that I’m a wedding photographer, but is standing by my side when I need him the most.
Lets see what comes our way in 2013.
This is one of my (many) favorite images from Kaysha + John’s wedding which I will be blogging some time this week.
