I <3 Kaysha + John. Separate they are awesome, interesting people…but together they are like “wow”. Kaysha is a fellow wedding photographer. An awesome wedding photographer actually. So…when I first received an email from her asking if I was available to shoot her wedding I almost fell out of my chair. Face first, cartoon style. But luckily when I met the two of them those nerves instantly faded away. They are both goofy, awesome, relaxed and trusting. Plus John is a huge nerd and we could chat about video games and old school anime. 😉
Fast forward to their wedding day. It was my most relaxed, well planned wedding of 2012. Since Kaysha is a wedding photographer, she knew what would make the best photos let alone the best vendors to make the day run smoothly. They started the day with a first look…one that actually happened on time. 😉
Just in case you are wondering what makes amazing photos:
1. Time
2. Location with gorgeous natural light
3. Trust and willing to do crazy awesome things (your dress can get a little dirty)
4. Comfortable shoes 😉
She did give me one little challenge that I took whole heartily: to photograph San Juan Capistrano Los Rios Street in a unique way. So I found locations that weren’t super popular with the masses of photographers that shoot there every day, and Kaysha + John were down for a little trespassing. Like all good couples should be.
I can’t begin to explain how grateful I am that I photographed their wedding. It was a turning point in my year, something that reassured me that I had my ish together. I felt as ease the entire day and knew I was right where I should of been. You guys rock.
HUGE thanks to my girl Lori for being my second pair of eyes, and Jay for being my second pair of hands. Also, I thank these vendors for doing such an amazing job.
Venue: San Juan Capistrano Franciscan Gardens | Coordinator: Lauren of Lavender Grey Events | Hair + Makeup: Serene Bridal Beauty – Evelyn | Florist: Pixie Petals – Leslie | Sweets: Sweet & Saucy Shop | DJ: Angel from Extreme DJ | Wedding Dress: J. Crew |Hair Accessory: Tessa Kim | Photobooth: Photo Booth from Erin J. Saldana Photography
Jay followed Kaysha and her dad before the beginning of the ceremony and captured a few cute moments.
Guess what? Then we ran off for MORE portraits. Be still my heart.
Normally I don’t post a lot of reception photos…but this reception was filled with people that loved to party. And loved photos. An awesome mix if you ask me. A good chunk of them are in the wedding industry…so when we have the opportunity to dance…we take it.
This is what a cupcake “cutting” is all about. Because nothing says love like smashing sugar into your loved ones face.
