The Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse { aka our wedding }

In 2 months and 13 days Jay and I will be on the other side of the camera. Pledging our lives to one other in front of our closest circle of family. Making silly faces, cracking inappropriate height jokes and making sure to enjoy every single moment.

And boy let me tell you it’s strange to be on the other side. Last month Jay proposed, and since then we have decided to plan our wedding in less than 3 months. You read that right, less than 3 months. At first we just wanted a small destination wedding with only our immediate family, but that evolved into a week long family vacation in Santa Barbara with our wedding smack dab in the middle of it. After planning full on styled shoots in less than 5 days and styling engagement sessions on the spot, I thought it would be a breeze. …Well, it’s not a breeze, but it’s also not a hurricane. It can be done, and I feel lucky to know so many great vendors.

The location was the hardest to find. After hours (and hours and hours) of researching for the perfect house, then venue, then back to rental house we found the Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse. Jay gets all the credit for this one, I have to give him that. (Just one reason why I’m planning on keeping him). In the last few years, I’ve seen photos of this place but never knew where it was located/what it was called until Jay stumbled on the property’s (great) website. Then after finishing a glass of wine (or two) I got the courage to email them for prices and availability.

And guess who emailed me back 20 minutes later at 11pm at night? If that wasn’t enough, renting the house for the week in February was in our non-existent budget. We jumped on it like white on rice. For reals.

We visited the property a few weeks ago and I quickly took a few (aka 100+) photos of the house. It’s a photographers dream. Now we just need to find our photographer (how ironic).

Jay’s mom gets photo credit for this one. I’m not quite sure how a bad photo can even come out of this “ceremony location”.
