As I sit on a plane to Seattle and eat the pack of peanuts that always taste a little better than the stuff you eat on land, I think to myself where I have been and gone in the past three years. Sometimes I traveled because of my camera and eye, other times it was just to explore and see a new place.
This is my second state this year alone, and every time I pack my bags (that is…after I do a celebratory dance) I just get filled with this happiness that tells me I’m going in the right direction.
I asked a guy siting next to me if he could take my photo. Expecting a point-n-shoot camera, he was very confused when I handed him my Nikon. But smiling, I explained the focus and shutter button and he seemed really interested. 🙂 (sometimes I forget how complicated the equipment I use can be.) After a few out of focus shots, he handing back the camera and told me he travels a lot but never has the courage to ask people to take his photo. He was glad to help someone out.
Without getting all philosophical up in here…experiencing life is all about the uncomfortable parts. And thank you airplane man, because now I can remember the mixture of fear and giddiness I felt today.

I wrote this early this month as I was flying over to Seattle for CreativeLIVE. I found it in my email inbox and wanted to share the moment with you all.
