Kasey + Josh { Oak Canyon Nature Center Wedding }

Niall McCarthy asked me to help him shoot the wedding of Kasey + Josh and I couldn’t of been happier. Months ago I met Kasey and Josh at their engagement session, and instantly loved them. Because Niall and I work together so much…we on occasion bring each other to engagement shoots as well. Especially if we know that the other person will be available to help shoot the wedding.

Kasey’s sister is an interior designer (FIDM grad like me!), and put together all of the flower arrangements and styled the entire wedding.  It was a completely DIY wedding, where everybody helped out.  The best types of weddings if you ask me. They also allowed for a lot of time in the morning for set up and getting ready…very important for one of the hottest weekends of the year.

Anyways…Trees are my jam. So when I found out that Kasey and Josh’s wedding was happening at the Oak Canyon Nature Center… I knew no matter what we would capture amazing images.

I want to make this a point to my future couples. Trees are your friend. They create shade at 2pm so we can have an even easier time doing outdoor portraits. And I’m not talking about park-trees, I mean full forest trees that make my heart go all pitter-patter. I will love you forever.

This is how you do bridesmaids dresses when you’re getting married in an oak grove.

These boys have style.

The reason why everything looked so great? They took time to create every detail. Even if that meant painting a “this way” sign over a goodwill cat painting. It’s all about being creative and using what you have.

Cutest sign ever. When I saw this at the rehearsal I knew it was going to be an amazing wedding. And I was right.

Durring the rehersal Niall and I were running around looking for places to shoot in. Casualy, one of us mentioned how great it would be to get a photo of them standing in the stream. We kinda laughed it off. Our brides were great, but not a lot of them would be down for playing in water.

Well, Kasey goes one step beyond. She mentioned wanting to shoot in the stream the morning of the wedding, and I just about jumped up and hugged her right then and there. This is reason number one-million-and-one why Kasey and Josh are made up of amazing.

And…that is why they have this shot.

At the reception, they put the last 5 generations of wedding dresses on display. Other than having to keep the manikins in a dark corner of the house a few days before the wedding and freaking people out…they looked amazing!
