FAQ

Can we meet you before the wedding?
Of course! I would prefer it! I only shoot a limited number of weddings every year, and want to get along with all of my clients. I love meeting for lunch and getting to know each-other before booking any sort of wedding package. I want to be as happy to spend the day with you and your family as you will be happy to spend the day with me. If you live outside of my studio locations, I would be super happy to set up a meeting to chat over Skype!

Where are you located?
I have two home bases – Fullerton, California AND Loveland, Colorado. Yep, I love both places so much that I spend part of the year in both states and shoot weddings all over the world.

Do you charge travel fee?
No travel fees for any wedding located in Southern California or Northern Colorado. Outside of those locations I charge a flat rate depending on the location.

I have a small wedding, less than 10-15 guests. What is your minimum time requirement?
I have a minimum of 4 hours for all weddings. If your wedding is small and taking place within 30 days of booking my minimum time is 2 hours.

Can you pencil us in or hold our date?
Unfortunately, I am unable to reserve a date on my calendar without a contract and a retainer payment.

What if you are booked on my wedding date?
Still send me an email, I can refer you to a list of photographers I would trust to shoot my own wedding. I still want you to have fabulous photos even if I’m not the photographer shooting them.

Can you send me your prices?
Of course. To start, you should expect to spend $3,500 for wedding day coverage, engagement session and digital negatives (Online Galley + USB of Images). Everything else is added ala-cart. I try to keep it simple. Anytime sessions start at $400 for a two hour session.

What is included in your basic coverage?
Myself and a second photographer for up to 10 hours wedding day coverage. I also include a complimentary engagement session.

How do you require payments to be broken down?
I ask for 50% retainer of the contracted amount to save the date and the balance to be due 30 days prior to the wedding.

How far in advance will you book?
I book weddings 14 months in advance and anytime sessions at most 2 months in advance. If you book an anytime session more than 2 months in advance, the date will be floating.

What do we need to do to book you?
I will need the date of your wedding, any A-La-Carte items you desire, and an electronically signed contract with your retainer payment. I use an online booking system that creates your personalized contract, collects contact information and creates invoices. I also send out customized wedding questionnaires though this system. (Love it-so easy to use.)

What form of payment do you take?
Check + Credit Card

Do you provide High Resolution files?
Yes, all of my packages and every hour of shooting include color-corrected files. I provide a signed release so that you may make prints on your own. I can recommend local and online print labs.

Will the files on the disk be marked with a logo?

Nope. Even though I would love for you to be a Candice Benjamin Photography cheerleader, it wouldn’t be nice to place my logo on your memories.

Do you shoot black and white or color or mix?
I shoot everything in color and convert images to B+W during my editing process. If an image is delivered in B+W, it is will stay B+W.

Do you provide online proofing?
Yes. After the images are color-corrected I upload them for viewing and even give the option for guests or yourself to purchase prints though my online proofing system.

How many photos do you take?
Every wedding is different, but in general I deliver 75-100 images per hour of shooting.

How do we see our images?
After 6-7 weeks you will  be able to view all of your images via my online proofing. The gallery remains online for at least 12 months.

How many photographers will be at my weddings?
For weddings, myself and a second photographer will be working to photograph your special day. For more elaborate weddings, I will be bringing an additional, non-shooting assistant.

What is your turn around time?
Anytime sessions take 3-4 weeks to edit and weddings take around 6-8 weeks to turn around.

Do you have a back-up plan just in case something happens that makes photographing the wedding impossible?
I work with a network of photographers in the Southern California/Northern Colorado area and have access to a group of photographers all around the world. I am a back up photographer for them and in the rare case that there is an accident or illness, I can rely on them to shoot the wedding.  In addition, my second photographers are accomplished photographers that can take over in any event that I can not.

We don’t want any getting ready photographs, can you arrive when ceremony is starting?
I actually require a minimum of 1.5 hours of pre-ceremony coverage. I use this time to capture details and candid photos to help tell the story of your day.

During our cocktail hour, how much time does portraits typically take?
I request at least 45 minutes for bride and groom portraits in pretty light.

If my wedding runs late and I would like you to stay longer what would the hourly rate be?
So….if your wedding runs longer than 10 hours (unexpectedly), and you are really awesome…my extra hourly rate is a slice of cake and diet coke. Really. I don’t want you to worry about fitting everything in before “the photographer has to go home”. Things happen and I’m flexible to sweet awesome couples.

Are there any other fees or hidden costs?
I do collect CA sales tax on top of the contracted amount. At the moment it is 8%. But other than sales tax, nope. That would be mean on my part.

Are there discounts for your services?
If your wedding falls on a Monday-Thursday I can work with you, but in most cases, unfortunately, no.

You sound awesome! How do I contact you?
Aw, thanks.:)You can always reach me by email (info {at} candicebenjamin.com) or by filling out this contact form.
